New York City Police arrested a Queens man for stalking and harassing the Mayor's daughter. Two Queens NY men were arrested and charged with stealing thousands of dollars from a Queens bank after redeeming gift cards for money taken from a local Donut store. The Queens District Attorney reported that the two men, Romanian nationals, stole gift cards and re-coded them for higher amounts. The criminal defendants then brought them to a neighborhood bank in Queens and redeemed the unauthorized gift cards for cash. Two criminal defendants were charged with arson and attempted murder after setting fire to an apartment in New York City. The criminal defendants were at a party where they were drinking heavily when they became embroiled in a dispute with the owners of the apartment. They allegedly came back hours later and set a fire in the stairwell of the building. Members of the NYC fire department responded and saved the lives of three people who were in the apartment at the time of the fire. New York City Detectives arrested a 42 year old man in May on charges he robbed two elderly Ozone Park residents earlier that month. Last week, the Queens District Attorney announced the defendant was convicted on two counts of Robbery under the New York State Penal Law. He faces up to 20 years in prison based on a prior Felony conviction in 1987, also for robbery. The defendant that Queens police were seeking in a recent murder has been found hiding out-of-state. The Police contend that the defendant along with three accomplices broke into a Queens, NY apartment in May of this year and threatened the occupants with guns and knives. During the robbery, one man in the apartment was stabbed and later dies at the hospital. A trader working for a major hedge fund in New York City pled guilty and was sentenced to a prison sentence of two and one half years in jail. The woman claimed that she was pressured into divulging privlidged information during a twenty year affair with her boss at a hedge fund. The boss was also sentenced to a two and one half year prison sentence for his role in the fraud. At the time, it was the largest insider trading case in the history of the industry. A 26 year old man from Queens was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated after a police officer on routine patrol witnessed him driving erratically along Queens Boulevard. After stopping the driver, he failed several field side sobriety tests that were administered by the officer. While searching the defendant pursuant to his arrest, the officer discovered a large quantity of cocaine in the man's right rear pocket. Two armed men robbed a Queens Bank at gunpoint yesterday and stole $800,000 in cash. The bank robbery happened in Ozone Park Queens, NY, when two men waited for employees of the bank to open for the business day. The robbers then forced the employees into the Queens bank and began ransacking the vault where the cash was stored. Police believe the heist may have been an inside job because no money was taken that had any of the dye packs normally used in theft prevention. An unknown gunman shot two teenage boys over the weekend, seriously injuring one and fatally killing the other. The 15 year old boy was shot once in the abdomen, hip and foot and was taken to the nearby hospital for treatment of his injuries. He remains hospitalized. The second youth, only 13 years old, was shot twice in the stomach and torso and was pronounced dead later that night at the hospital. Two Queens criminal defendants were arrested pursuant to a Narcotics buy and bust operation. The two men were apprehended after Queens Narcotics detectives purchased two kilograms of cocaine from them over a two week period in early May 2011. When the two men met with narcotics detectives a third time to sell another kilo of cocaine, the police busted them for Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance. A 24 year old Queens man was arrested for DWI driving while intoxicated after police were alerted to a suspicious driver on Queens Boulevard. NYC police received numerous calls from concerned motorists who reported that a mann was driving erratically and weaving dangerously around traffic. When the police stopped the driver he failed numerous field side sobriety tests. A 53 year old New York City nurse was arrested yesterday for possessing a vast quantity of illegal prescription oxycodone pills. Police detectives stated that the nurse was part of a 10 person criminal enterprise that conspired to distribute and possess a large quantity of the highly addictive prescription painkiller oxycodone. A 23 year old Ridgewood, Queens man was shot in the face during a verbal dispute with several other men. According to Police, the victim was seen speaking with two men outside a school yard when neighbors heard yelling and arguing between them. The victim was seen running away when shots rang out and he fell. When police arrived he was transported to the hospital in the back of the patrol car where he later died as a result of his injuries. A 20 year old man was arrested by Police in Queens NY after he shot and killed a mother as she sat in her car and then wounded her 18 year old son. Both victims were sitting in a car outside their apartment in Forest Hills at approximately 5:45 PM when the gunman approached. A New York City criminal defendant was shot after he grabbed for an officers gun while the police officer was attempting to place him under arrest. Police were called to a dispute inside a bar between the defendant and two other men. When the Police arrived the fight had just spilled outside. When the officers attempted to intervene, the defendant struck one of the officers who then attempted to place him under arrest for criminal assault on a police officer. After leaving the jurisdiction and hiding out in California, a Queens defendant was brought to trial and convicted of murder in the shooting death of a 47 year old New York man. Police officials stated that the Queens criminal defendant became angry after the victim attempted to dance with his girlfriend in a nightclub in 2009. After a minor argument, both men were escorted from the bar whereupon, the defendant shot the victim from his car as he and his girlfriend were leaving the parking lot. A 41 year old New York City man was arrested and charged in the slaying of his mother inside their apartment building. A 22 year old Queens mother was arrested and charged under the newly enacted Leandra's Law with driving while intoxicated with her 3 year old daughter in the vehicle. NYC Police stopped the driver when they witnessed her weaving in and out of traffic and failing to yield at two stop signs. Upon interviewing the driver it was noted that she had her young daughter in the car without a child safety seat. Police also noted the presence of the oder of alcohol, that she was unsteady on her feet and her speech was alurred. A 27 year old Queens resident was arrested yesterday after NYC Police executed a search warrant in his Queens home. Law enforcement officials were tipped off by a criminal informant that the man was dealing fireworks out of his garage in the weeks prior to the 4th of July weekend. Two men who spent nearly 19 years behind bars in a New York Prison for a double murder their lawyers say the never committed, were released from jail. New York Prosecutors dropped charges against the men after the states highest court overturned their conviction for murder in a 1989 drive by shooting. The States main witness had a severe memory lapse that made it virtually impossible to re-try the two men in criminal court. New York City Police arrested a 19 year old man for sexually abusing a young male victim in his care at a local synagogue. A prescription drug ring operating out of New York City has been broken with the plea and sentencing of the alleged ringleader. The criminal defendants sold prescription pain pills out of the back of an ice cream truck. Two of the co-conspiritors have pleaded not guilty and are awaiting trial in criminal court. Customs officers and Queens narcotics Detectives found 5 pounds of cocaine in an abandoned luggage bag at the Queens Airport. The Customs officers were alerted to the bag and upon searching it, they found sneakers inside. Due to the suspicious nature of the bag as well as the unusual weight of the sneakers inside, the officers found the cocaine inserted in the soles of the sneakers. Police were called to a home in Queens to break up a fight between two brothers. It was reported to police that neighbors could hear arguing coming from the home where the fight took place. A seventeen year old girl was arrested after she assaulted a New York City bus driver because she was not permitted to board the bus with her dog. The incident ocoured on Fordam Road after the teen attempted to board the bus and was stopped by the bus driver.
